Chapter 577: Green did a goof
Chapter 577: Green did a goof
D took Petrel to Matori, who was in the middle of scolding the trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth for literally no reason. She just needed something to help her get rid of some stress, and yelling at those three always helped.
Oh, and the rest of the group waited outside since, unlike D, they didn’t get special treatment, and they would get yelled at if they did.
When he got in, Matori immediately stopped and let the trio go off with a warning, then quickly thanked D and ran away before Matori could change her mind.
"This better be good," Matori asked, leaning her head on her desk.
Petrel nodded and walked up, "So, remember how I was infiltrating Team Magma and Aqua and all that?"
"Yes, yes," Matori waved a hand impatiently, "You spent months pretending to be incompetent grunts and listening to idiots argue about rocks and water. Get to the point."
"Heheheh...well, about that," Petrel scratched the back of his head, "Looks like Team Magma and Team Aqua are calling a temporary truce."
Matori slowly lowered her hand from her forehead, "...What?"
"Yeah, weird, right?" Petrel laughed nervously, "At first I thought maybe they were pulling some kinda trick on each other, but no, they’re serious about it, at least for now."
Matori narrowed her eyes, "Did they find out about us?"
Petrel waved his hand, "No, no, we’re fine. They don’t know jack about us."
Matori sighed in relief. At least they were safe, but still, "This still means we won’t be able to continue framing them. Now it would be too suspicious."
Matori leaned back in her chair slowly and buried her face into her hands, "Wonderful. Hoenn somehow became even more annoying."
She looked back at him, "Did you at least figure out WHY they’re doing this?" she asked.
Petrel’s expression turned more serious as he shook his head, "That’s the weird part," he admitted, "I tried digging around for information. I disguised myself all over the place. I even became some random delivery guy at one point. Nobody seems to know the actual reason."
"That makes no sense," Matori frowned.
"I know!" Petrel threw his hands up dramatically, "Usually those two groups can’t go five minutes without trying to blow each other up! But suddenly both bosses agreed to a ceasefire."
Matori sighed and rubbed her temple, "Okay, we can still work with this. We’ve gathered enough resources from them that we can do something else."
Matori stood up, "We need to cancel all the plans we have to raid the bases. We need to reorganize everything."
She pointed at Petrel, "Go find Archer and Proton, and meet me in the meeting room." Then she looked over to D and sighed, "And D, if you can, try to go to Wendy and tell her to call every grunt that is gonna go on a mission and cancel it."
D nodded as he turned to walk out, while Petrel followed behind quickly to go with him since they were going to the same place.
Meanwhile, Matori rubbed her temple again. Of course, just when things were getting better, she was getting a headache all over again.

{Meanwhile}
The gang were now sitting on the boat waiting for it to take off, drinking hot chocolate. Yeah, turns out when they could all just cheat and get through the mountain with their Pokémon, it really wasn’t that big of a problem.
And when they got there, they literally just asked if they could wait on the boat, and the people on the ship had no problem with it, so that’s how they got on. As for how they got hot chocolate, do you really need to ask? Vee hugged the thermos in Flareon form.
Ash poured another cup while Pikachu sat in his lap sipping from a tiny cup Brock somehow produced specifically for him.
"Pika..." Pikachu sighed happily as steam rose from the cup.
"You know," Brock said while holding his own drink, "this is probably the most comfortable mountain crossing we’ve ever had, and I’m surprised nothing happened. I was expecting an avalanche or something."
"Definitely," Wally nodded while wrapped in a blanket.
Meanwhile, Max was pressed against one of the windows looking outside at the ocean, "Woaaah..." he whispered, "There’s ice floating out there!"
"There’s barely any ice," May laughed.
"It’s still cool!" Max defended.
May just shook her head before taking another sip of her drink, though she had her newly evolved Glaceon out. Although she had to put a blanket on her lap before she could let her sleep on it.
Even with leggings, Glaceon was just cold. At first she thought that Glaceon might be nice for cuddles, and granted maybe in summer she’d be better, but right now, in December, specifically in one of the few areas in Hoenn that actually gets snow? Yeah, not great.
May was currently shivering slightly just because Glaceon was laying on her legs, "Ash..." May said slowly through chattering teeth, "I think I made a mistake..."
Ash looked over from where Vee was still happily heating him and Pikachu, "Skill issue."
May gasped in betrayal.
"Wow," Brock snorted into his drink.
"Pika pika," Pikachu nodded wisely.
"Traitors," May muttered dramatically as she looked over at Vee, who was nice and warm and fluffy, and sighed. But oh well, it’s not like her Glaceon had Vee’s power where she could de-evolve. Well, maybe she could ask. She never actually asked how Vee could do that.
"Hey Ash, how does Vee go back and forth?" May asked.
"Oh yeah...I guess we never asked that, did we?" Wally added, tilting his head.
Vee, when he heard that, visibly flinched and uncontrollably went back to base, making everyone look at him.
Ash put a hand on the scared Vee, scratching behind his ears, "We don’t really want to talk about it. Just know Vee doesn’t like what happened, and leave it at that, for his sake."
"Yeah, it’s a sensitive topic," Brock added as he scratched his cheek.
"I-um...sorry for asking," May apologized, slightly feeling guilty now as she looked at Vee lowering his ears.
Glaceon perked up and jumped off of May’s lap, letting Skitty jump up and steal her place, and walked over to Vee. Looking down at him, she tilted her head, then leaned in and licked Vee on the cheek.
And while Vee wasn’t really about that romance stuff, it did help a little, so Vee gave Glaceon a thankful, "Veeve..."
"Awww," May smiled softly, "See? They’re getting along."
"Yeah," Wally smiled too, "That’s cute."
Pikachu glanced over before smirking slightly into his tiny cup, "Pika pika..."
Vee immediately glared at him.
"Vee."
"Pika~"
Ash shook his head with a laugh before taking another sip of hot chocolate, "Hey Brock, how much longer before the ship departs?"
Brock checked their tickets real quick, "Probably another five hours. We did get here really early, and considering the fact that we want to go to Sootopolis City...ehhh," Brock waved his hand in front of him slightly.
Yeah, they decided to go for Sootopolis City first so they wouldn’t have to backtrack, and because of that they had to deal with this, because Sootopolis City was Wallace and Juan’s hometown, it was one of the most popular places to visit.
Mainly because people loved watching Juan perform, and also on the small chance that Wallace showed up from his champion duties.
May was no different since Juan was also a coordinator she was a fan of, "Do you think we’ll be able to watch Juan participate in a contest?"
"Is there a contest happening there?" Wally asked. If there was, why did they spend so long asking where they were gonna go next?
"Ah," May scratched her cheek, "W-well no, but I meant maybe he’ll perform for everyone, that’s all."
"Right, well we’ll see. Me and Wally do need to battle him anyway," Ash reminded them, but then he thought about something, "So we have five hours, right?"
"Yep, five hours," Brock repeated.
"Okay cool, ima go do something," Ash said as he stood up.
Immediately Brock and May grabbed one of his wrists each and made him sit down, "Oh no you don’t. Care to tell us where you’re going?"
"Um, if I said to get you guys Christmas presents would you believe me?" Ash asked. Technically he wasn’t lying, he was gonna get them stuff for an early Christmas present.
"You know that would be sweet if we didn’t know you," May narrowed her eyes.
Ash slowly looked between the two of them still holding onto his wrists, "...Rude."
"Call it what you want, you have a track record with your walks, so either we can hold onto you, or you can tell us what you’re getting," Brock deadpanned.
"But I mean, that kinda ruins the surprise, doesn’t it?"
"Ash," Brock started.
"Hey, I wasn’t gonna do anything dangerous!" Ash defended, "Mostly," he whispered that last part.
"That sentence means literally nothing coming from you," Brock replied instantly.
Wally awkwardly sipped his hot chocolate while watching the two of them hold Ash hostage on the bench.
"Okay, if I tell you, I promise I’m not going to pick a fight if I can help it?" Ash offered.
"Again, that doesn’t mean much after what we’ve seen you go through," Brock said, poking his chest where he got stabbed before.
"Come on, you guys can’t hold onto me forever, and don’t you trust me?"
"Both not at all and with every cell of my body," Brock responded, "That’s why I also know if I let you go, you’re gonna come back with a story on how you beat a small army of Pokémon by yourself."
"Look, that only happened two times...on my own. The other times were complete coincidences," Ash huffed, "But I mean it when I say I will not actively try to put myself in danger. I guess you can say I just need to talk with someone."
"Who?" Brock asked.
"Well, I need to talk to Green," Ash responded, pretending to sound genuine.
Brock narrowed his eyes, "Green, huh? So if after you leave we call her, she’ll tell us that she’s with you?"
"Exactly," Ash nodded confidently.
Brock and May didn’t seem convinced, but they might as well give Ash one chance. But if he was lying, then never again.
"Okay fine," May huffed, letting go, and Brock did the same.
Ash sighed in relief as suddenly Abby appeared behind him. She totally wasn’t watching the whole thing and only now showed up after it was over, while Pikachu jumped up to go with Ash while Vee decided to sit this one out and take his nap since he wasn’t in the mood.
Ash put a hand on her head, "Okay Abby, let’s go to that place we talked about," he said quickly, then they both teleported away.
"So what are the chances he actually went to Green?" May asked.
"If he said Misty I would have called him out, but if it’s Green, it’s possible," Brock said.
"Should I call her now?" May asked, holding up her phone.
"No no, they might expect you to call right now. Just call at a completely random time, he’ll never be able to guess when you’ll call."
—
Ash teleported onto an island and pulled out his phone to text Green.

Ash was about to send something else, but the messages stopped. Ash blinked then looked at the top of the screen where it said that Green had just blocked him for an hour.
Ash stared blankly at the phone, "...She blocked me."
"Pika pika," Pikachu nodded knowingly like this was completely expected.
Ash sighed helplessly, "Whatever." He put his phone away.
As for where he was, well, he got Abby to teleport him back to Mega Island. Remember, he left those unformed Mega Stones there to see what they’d become, so he was here to collect them, and also so he could get a nice gift for Wally and May. As for Brock, did he even need another Mega Stone?
Not really. He already had what he needed, and other than Swampert he didn’t really think any of his other Pokémon could Mega Evolve, unless there was some obscure Pokémon that came out in the DLC.
...You know, now that he thought about it, he should check that. He may not be able to play it himself, but he could at least watch a playthrough.
So Ash pulled out his phone and went to his old world’s YouTube, then picked a walkthrough of the Mega Dimension.
Meanwhile, with his other hand he threw out a Poké Ball, sending out his Flygon, and getting on his back, "Alright bud, take us up there," Ash said, giving Flygon a direction.
Flygon looked out and nodded before his built-in goggles lowered and he flew up into the sky for them to start collecting more Mega Stones.

Meanwhile with Green, as she was doing her own thing that totally didn’t involve making another scam, I mean at this point it wasn’t even about the money, it was just for the love of the game.
But as she set up a stall, suddenly she heard her phone ring. When she looked down to see the caller ID, she saw it was May. She sighed and got some stuff ready real quick, then she answered.
"Hey May~" Green said cheerfully.
"Hi Green," May started slowly, "Random question."
In the background she could already hear Brock whispering, "Don’t let her distract you."
"I can literally hear you, Brock," Green snorted, "But what’s up?"
"Is Ash with you?"
Green didn’t even hesitate, "Yep."
Brock’s voice came out next, "Really?" he asked flatly.
"Mhm!" Green replied instantly, "He’s helping me carry stuff right now actually."
Green said, pointing to the completely empty spot beside her.
"Then can you put him on?" May asked.
"Wow, you don’t trust me or Ash. I’m hurt. Fine," Green said dramatically as she pulled out a small soundboard that was labeled ’IMPORTANT ASH NOISES’.
She pressed one of the keys, "Hey guys!" Ash’s voice came out through it, while Green was trying her best not to cackle.
May seemed to still be a little suspicious, "Ash?"
Another button click, "Yeah?"
"...What are you doing?"
"Bruh, did you guys seriously forget? I already told you guys what I was doing. You don’t believe me? I guess you hate me," Ash’s voice said.
"Wha-how many times do I have to say this? I don’t hate you!" May immediately dropped her disbelief and shouted back.
"No no, I get it bunny ears, you just hate me since you don’t trust me. I’m hurt," Ash’s voice said again.
"They aren’t bunny ears and I don’t hate you," May said again, making Green have to mute herself to laugh, wondering if she could tease May some more with this.
But then Brock quickly took the phone, "Ash, so you really are shopping, right?"
"Brock, you don’t trust me? After I helped you and Lucy get together, I’m hurt. Oh by the way, hasn’t it been 20 minutes since the last time you called Lucy?"
"18 ac-wait don’t distract me," Brock sputtered.
"I dunno, I’m with Ash on this one," Green added this time, "If I had a boyfriend and they didn’t call me every 10 minutes, I’d start thinking that he doesn’t love me enough. We might have to break up."
"Oh no!" Brock immediately panicked and Green could hear the sound of Brock shoving the phone back to May and running off to call Lucy right now, making her laugh so hard tears formed in her eyes.
In the background, May sighed tiredly, "Why is the friend group like this?"
"Hey!" Green grinned, "That’s rude. We’re delightful."
Green quickly pressed another button, "Anyway I gotta go buy stuff before everything sells out. Tell Brock to stop being clingy."
May sighed, "Fine, just stay out of trouble. We all know you have a track record."
"I will, promise." Green pressed a few more buttons, "Anyway gotta go bye guys."
Green nodded proudly to herself, thinking to herself that this went perfectly, but then she got too comfortable and her hand slipped slightly, hitting the button next to the one she wanted and Ash’s voice spoke again.
"Love ya."
Green immediately panicked. Don’t question why she has that, that’s none of your business. And she could hear on the other side everyone getting confused, flustered, and everything.
So Green quickly pressed some stuff, "Guys, love you guys, anyway bye," Ash’s voice said before Green immediately hung up.
Green put her hands together in concern. Oh no, she might have screwed up. Well, this isn’t gonna be fun to explain to Ash, and there goes her chance to make Ash do something for her. Oh well.

Meanwhile, back with Steven and Alain, they started the battle and things were not going in Alain’s favor.
His Charizard was already Mega Evolved, but Steven’s Metagross was still in base. He hadn’t even forced him to get serious yet.
Alain grit his teeth. Just when he was about to call out another command, suddenly Alain’s holo phone turned on and from it a hologram of Lysandre stepped into the center.
"That is quite enough," Lysandre said, stopping the fight.
"Sir Lysandre," Alain’s eyes widened as he muttered, and Steven caught that, looking slightly confused.
Lysandre’s hologram walked up to Steven and bowed, "I apologize for my subordinate’s rudeness, Champion," Lysandre said with a small bow.
Alain blinked in surprise as Charizard went back to base next to him, "Champion?"
Lysandre looked back at Alain, who looked confused, "This is the Champion of Hoenn, Steven Stone."
Steven quickly waved his hand in front of him, "Ah, sorry to say, you probably don’t know this, but I stepped down as champion, Mr...?"
Lysandre bowed, "Ah forgive me, my name is Lysandre, director of Lysandre Labs."
Then he stood up and looked back at Alain, "And I’m the one that told Alain to gather as much information about Mega Evolution."
Steven tilted his head, "You’re interested in Mega Evolution?"
Lysandre nodded, "Yes. Lysandre Labs is interested in the energy Pokémon emit when Mega Evolving, and we’re quite intent on gathering as much data on it as we can."
"Gathering data?" Steven asked.
"That’s right," Lysandre nodded, "Through the Mega Ring he’s wearing. The energy produced due to Mega Evolution is vast. We’d like to harness that energy for peaceful means."
Steven nodded, "Peaceful means. I see."
"By the way, Champion, do you know about this?" Lysandre’s hologram changed into the image of a tablet.
"Ah yes, I have. I actually found another. Have a look, I found this." Steven said as he pulled out his phone and showed him another piece of the tablet.
"Ah I see, it seems like we both found different versions," Lysandre said as he appeared back, "Maybe we can help each other."
Steven nodded, looking much more interested now. It may not be what he was looking for originally, but more was always better, "So, if we share each other’s information freely, we’ll get closer to finding the answer."
Lysandre nodded, "Yes. Sharing our information can only help." He looked back at Alain, "Alain, go with Mr. Steven and find whatever you can and report it back to me."
Alain stood at attention, "Yes sir, I will."
Lysandre smiled and looked back at Steven, "I leave my subordinate in your capable hands."
Steven smiled politely, "Then let’s work together."
Lysandre returned the smile, "I look forward to it."
The hologram flickered once, "Until next time." And then he vanished.
Alain straightened immediately, "Sir."
Steven blinked, "...You don’t have to call me sir."
"Right. Mr. Stone?"
Steven laughed, "Steven is fine."
Alain looked like he physically couldn’t do that, "...Mr. Steven."
Steven nodded, "Close enough, let’s go."
Then together they started walking to look for the ruins together.
