Chapter 281 Area 51, The Eve of Divine Punishment
Chapter 281 Area 51, The Eve of Divine Punishment
Deep in the desert of Nevada.
Above ground, this is a military restricted area, with barbed wire and warning signs blocking all curious glances. But beneath the surface lies a massive underground base large enough to house a small city—Area 51.
This is the most advanced and darkest secret place in the United States of America.
Inside the central laboratory at the deepest level of the base, the lights were on, but the atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.
General Donald Miller, with three stars on his shoulders, stared grimly at the massive bulletproof glass in front of him. On the other side of the glass was a vast training ground.
In the training field, a super soldier codenamed "Hulk" is undergoing a strength test.
He was over 2.5 meters tall, with bulging muscles all over his body, and his skin had an abnormal dark green color. His body was covered with various monitoring cables.
"roar!"
He let out a roar that sounded inhuman, picked up a specially made alloy block weighing ten tons, lifted it high above his head, and then slammed it hard to the ground.
"boom!"
The entire laboratory shook, leaving a clear dent in the floor.
"Strength readings are stable at peak! Heart rate 180! Adrenaline levels are 1200% above target! Perfect! This is simply the perfect war machine!"
Dr. Abraham Erskine, the chief scientist, wearing a white lab coat and with a fanatical look in his eyes, excitedly waved his fist and muttered to himself.
General Miller's expression remained unchanged. He stared at the "Hulk," whose strength was boundless but whose eyes were filled with chaos and savagery, and coldly asked, "What about his mental stability? Can he guarantee complete obedience to orders on the battlefield?"
Dr. Erskine's smile froze for a moment, then he awkwardly adjusted his glasses: "General, you know, great power always comes at a small price. We are trying to control his aggression through medication and psychological intervention. Give us a little more time, and I guarantee he will become your most obedient hound."
"I don't have that much time, Doctor." General Miller's voice was as cold as ice. "Just a few hours ago, the Chinese announced to the world that they were about to usher in a so-called 'era of universal cultivation'! They claim to have mastered a safe and efficient method of cultivation!"
He slammed his fist on the control panel, making a dull thud.
"Cultivation! What a ridiculous term! It's the 21st century, and they're still playing these pretentious tricks! Do they think this is a movie?" General Miller's tone was full of disdain and a hint of barely concealed anxiety. "Those bureaucrats at the Pentagon are terrified by this news. They've given me an ultimatum: we must produce results that surpass China's in the shortest possible time!"
Upon hearing this, Dr. Erskine's eyes flashed with arrogance: "General, please rest assured. The Chinese methods are nothing but a deception of Eastern mysticism, at best only good for physical fitness. We, however, follow the path of science! It's genetic evolution! We are 'creating' gods! One of our super soldiers can destroy an entire formation of their so-called 'martial arts masters'!"
"I hope so." General Miller took a deep breath. He knew he had staked everything on this crazy plan.
Just then, a piercing alarm suddenly sounded inside the base!
"Waaaaah—waaaah—!"
The red alarm lights flashed wildly, illuminating everyone's faces in a blood-red hue.
"What's going on?!" General Miller roared.
A soldier in charge of surveillance, his face ashen, stood up from his seat, his voice trembling: "General! Highest alert! There's... there's an unidentified object that has intruded into our airspace! Its speed... its speed is incalculable! It... it has breached all our defense systems!"
"What?!" General Miller and Dr. Erskine were both shocked.
Area 51's defense system is among the most advanced in the world, capable of withstanding a saturation nuclear attack from any country. How could it possibly be breached silently by an unidentified object?
"Where is the target?!" General Miller roared.
"Right...right above our heads!"
The soldier had barely finished speaking.
"Boom!"
A loud bang came from the top floor of the base.
The entire massive underground base shook violently, as if it had been hit head-on by a meteorite!
The light tubes on the ceiling burst one after another, and debris and dust fell like rain.
The laboratory was in complete chaos.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"
"Quickly! Activate all combat units! Alpha Squad! Beta Squad! All of you, move out!"
"Command 'Hulk' to attack! Tear the intruders to shreds!"
After a brief moment of shock, General Miller quickly regained the composure of a professional soldier and issued orders in a hoarse voice.
However, his order came too late.
Two streaks of light, one gold and one red, pierced straight down from the massive hole blasted open in the base, like two invincible divine swords.
They ignored the laser netting powerful enough to melt steel, and the Gauss machine gun bullets raining down like a storm.
Everything that tried to stop them, whether human soldiers or cyborgs, turned to dust the instant they came into contact with the invisible force field surrounding their bodies.
They were unstoppable, advancing with unstoppable momentum.
Ares led the charge, a bloodthirsty and cruel smile on his face.
"Hahahaha! A bunch of insects! The sir was right, they really are heretics!"
He casually swung the war spear in his hand.
A dark red energy shockwave swept out.
In the passage ahead, a whole squad of over fifty fully armed elite soldiers, before they could even scream, were instantly vaporized along with their high-tech armor.
"Ares, don't go too far. The master wants purification, not torture."
Aiolia's voice sounded coldly behind him.
Unlike Ares, whose movements were bold and sweeping, his actions were elegant yet deadly.
He simply extended a finger, pointed it forward, and gently touched it.
"Buzz!"
A thin, golden ray of light, as thin as a hair, flashed by in an instant.
Ahead, a ten-meter-thick emergency isolation gate made of superalloy appeared silently in the center, with a tiny hole the size of a pinhole.
next second.
"boom!"
The entire gate, along with all the soldiers behind it who were trying to activate the defense system, was like a building block with all its support removed; it suddenly disintegrated into the most basic metal powder.
"Tch, how boring." Ares curled his lip. "Do we need to be so meticulous when dealing with this trash? Just pierce the entire base with one spear, wouldn't that be enough?"
"The master's order is to erase all 'experiments' and 'research data'," Aiolia said as he walked, as if strolling in his own backyard. "If you destroy the base, that data will likely be lost along with the data itself. Our mission will then be considered a failure."
"Alright, alright, you have a point." Ares shrugged. "Then let's find their 'toys' and 'instruction manuals' first, and then raze this place to the ground."
The two, one in front and one behind, moved as if they were in an empty field, heading towards the central laboratory, the deepest part of the base.
Along the way, all resistance seemed so pale and powerless.
Inside the central laboratory, General Miller and Dr. Erskine stared blankly at the terrifying, almost mythical scene unfolding on the monitor screen.
Their faces were filled with a horror and despair that defied description.
Their proud, impregnable base was like a paper toy in front of these two monsters.
Their meticulously crafted, powerful cyborg army couldn't even last a second against them.
"What...what is this..." Dr. Erskine's lips trembled, and he collapsed to the ground. "They...they're not human...they're...they're demons! Demons crawled out of hell!"
"No..." General Miller stared intently at the figure in golden armor on the screen, his eyes revealing a fear even deeper than that of Dr. Erskine.
He recognized the armor.
Although it is countless times clearer than that blurry video.
But he will never admit his mistake!
That golden, streamlined armor, brimming with divine beauty…
Behind it, like the wings of an angel, were metal wings...
"It's...it's them..."
"It's Antarctica's... 'God'..."
General Miller felt as if an invisible hand was gripping his heart tightly, making it difficult to even breathe.
He finally understood what kind of terrifying entity he and his country had provoked.
"roar!"
A furious roar interrupted his thoughts.
The laboratory's alloy door was forcefully smashed open from the outside by a tremendous force!
The super soldier codenamed "Hulk" strode in, his eyes, filled with chaos and madness, fixed intently on the two approaching figures, one gold and one red, on the monitor screen.
It was as if the wild beast had caught the scent of its natural enemy.
